Habitat Celebrates Success!

Sura house dedication & Astorga payoff

North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity announces A Celebration from Start to Finish, an event that will celebrate the dedication of the 20th home built and the pay-off of the very first home built.  The event, honoring homeowners, Filimon and Maria Astorga who recently paid off their home, and John and Hannah Sura who will be the receiving the keys to their new home, will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the newly finished home at 206 Fir Avenue in Gervais beginning at 2:00 PM.

 In addition to celebrating these two family’s successes, the affiliate will also be celebrating the involvement of eight churches in the project, which is known as the “Disciple’s Build.”  Also being honored are board members, project and key volunteers of the affiliate.  For more information call Pamela White, 503-873-0901.

North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity serving Woodburn, Silverton, Mt. Angel, Molalla, Hubbard, Gervais, Canby and Aurora is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, based in Americus , Georgia. Like the International organization North Willamette Valley Habitat is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing.  Since its inception in 1987, the local affiliate has built 20 homes and is presently starting its 21st home, the first in the Canby area.  By the end of 2005, Habitat organizations across the world will have built 200,000 houses, and more than one million people will be living in Habitat homes that they helped build and are buying through no-profit, zero-interest mortgages.
