FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Local HabitatLooking for Potential HomeownersMarch 1, 2005 It is North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity’s mission to partner with people from all walks of life and build decent houses in decent communities with families who might not otherwise be able to own a home. The local affiliate is presently completing its 20th home and will be beginning the process of selecting new families with whom they will build their next 6 – 10 homes. To be considered for home ownership a family must live in the school district areas of Woodburn, Silverton, Mt. Angel or Gervais. They must show financial need, and be presently living in sub-standard or overcrowded conditions. The family must show a history of steady employment and they must be willing to invest 1% of the house cost and 500 hours of sweat equity into their new home. In order to become Habitat for Humanity homeowners a family must participate in the selection process, which takes about 4 months. The process includes: an application, extensive interviews, a visit to the potential homeowner’s current residence and a credit check. All of this helps determine if a family is able to meet the required criteria. For More Information Contact: Tel: 503-873-0901
